"Chile’s copper output has been dented by a long-running drought in the country’s arid north. State miner Codelco’s 2023 production was the lowest in 25 years."
Oh, the bitter irony, mining delayed by drought!
Peak Copper!
Another element, pardon the pun, debunking the "Energy Transition"
"Many hardrock mines across the western United States may require water treatment for hundreds to thousands of years, or “in perpetuity” as a result of acid mine drainage or metals leaching."
It's the same predicament it must be continued for hundreds of thousands of years, years we don't have!
I would posit that the "More, more, more" obsession is the direct spawn of a culture that believes we can have infinite growth on a finite planet.
Once you can function within that delusion, you'll go along with nearly anything!
“Being poor is not having too little, it is wanting more.”
Seneca warned us nearly 2000 years ago and as with the "Limits to Growth" in 1972 we read the warnings, the culture decided to ignore them and put our foot to the floor, pedal to the metal, full speed ahead!

Say it isn't so! Peak this, peak that ... seems the world is changing without my permission. Thank you for your scholarly contributions, Kevin.
Our predicament is always worse than we know!

“(H)undreds to thousands of years.” Yeah, this is fine. Thank you for your link and comment, Kevin. Thanks, too, for restacking my post.

Crashing is the only logical outcome.

Disastrous crash on the way! Brilliant analogy, Kevin. Thank you for your comment, and for restacking my post (as usual).
