Draft script: Here’s the final sentence of the first paragraph in an article released by yahoo.com on 14 February 2024: “The USDA just updated its plant hardiness zone map for the first time since 2012, and there have been some major changes.” In other words, the United States Department of Agriculture has altered their map of plant hardiness zones for the first time in more than a decade.
"He added: “If we don’t … I expect huge turmoil and escalating prices in the next 10 to 20 years. When food prices spiral we always expect political instability. I wish people understood the urgent climate threat to our near-term food security."
"The matter of climate change and extinction can be illustrated by how temperature change changes the time needed to complete a reproductive cycle. A study found that a species of moth takes 21.3 days for one generation at 10°C while only 4.7 days at 25°C."
Love the reference to “The Hunger Games.” Not the reality, mind you … only the reference.
I agree, Kevin. Too many people on a finite planet is a prescription for disaster. Along with our predecessors, we’ve treated Earth as an infinite source of clean air, potable water, and healthy food. I suspect “the good old days” are nearing their end.

Wow! That is a huge difference. Thanks to you and Gary, Kevin.
Another day, another step closer to "The Hunger Games".
I've added this latest analysis to my blog post: "On the Verge of Starvation."

Coming soon to a village near you, wars for food and water, to go along with the energy wars already playing out in West Asia.
These literally are the "Good Old Days".
