"He added: “If we don’t … I expect huge turmoil and escalating prices in the next 10 to 20 years. When food prices spiral we always expect political instability. I wish people understood the urgent climate threat to our near-term food security."
"The matter of climate change and extinction can be illustrated by how temperature change changes the time needed to complete a reproductive cycle. A study found that a species of moth takes 21.3 days for one generation at 10°C while only 4.7 days at 25°C."
Love the reference to “The Hunger Games.” Not the reality, mind you … only the reference.
I agree, Kevin. Too many people on a finite planet is a prescription for disaster. Along with our predecessors, we’ve treated Earth as an infinite source of clean air, potable water, and healthy food. I suspect “the good old days” are nearing their end.

A few people understand “the urgent climate threat to our near-term food security." Too few, obviously.

Wow! That is a huge difference. Thanks to you and Gary, Kevin.
Another day, another step closer to "The Hunger Games".
I've added this latest analysis to my blog post: "On the Verge of Starvation."
It won't be long until we're all as hungry as the children in Gaza.
Coming soon to a village near you, wars for food and water, to go along with the energy wars already playing out in West Asia.
These literally are the "Good Old Days".
