Now let me cast my mind back, to last century, when the large NGOs used to babble on about "Tipping Points".
They never use that vernacular now that we have crossed, an inconvenient six dozen of them!
Hit the notification button on YouTube team, and don't forget to 'like' the video to help overcome the "Shadow Banning" Guy's important work is being subjected too, because the corporate owned dominant culture, being as cunning as a ditch rat, have controlled the narrative and will continue to do so until the whole shitshow unravels.
The draft script alone suggests a cutting analysis, exactly what we'd expect.
The Hanson language is slippery. No sooner is a serious point made, then the next words befuddle or retract the point. "Taking one step forward slipping two steps back."
The jargon "Climate Sensitivity" is nonsensical:: If CO2 levels double from baseline then climate sensitivity is the numerical increase of mean global temperature--wha? The words "Climate Sensitivity" could mean many other things, like dangerous weather patterns, or sunburn frequency, or nothing at all.
Secret shadow banning. Invisible news silos. How many silos are algorithms slotting minds into? We get troubling hints. A right wing "talking point lie" is the outrageous price of turkey 'under this administration' -- yet the price of turkey is reasonable. Yesterday the price tags mysteriously went missing from the store's turkeys. The clerk refused to sell one to a grandmother with a full cart, she left the store angry without the family's holiday turkey--because no one had authority to, say, use the price in the store flyer. Turkey prices are now weaponized. And how many other things that fly under my radar?
I play with Silicon Valley enough to know that AI compute is, yikes, more than exponential, it is a paradigm increase in computing power. Terrifying to me. We could solve problems, but instead our whole-of-society efforts are turned to making more money.
The silo walls are getting higher. The chaff of AI bots and human spam makes it impossible to have online discussions with other humans. The noise and static is also in the hockey stick rate of escalation.
"If we just start now" :)
Gawd, that term triggers my Bulimia :)

Thank you for your thoughtful comment, Kevin, and also for restacking my work!
