A good article discussing the current state of the permafrost meltdown.
If you were going to flesh it out you might want to discuss Arctic Amplification and the flattening of the Latitudinal Equator to Pole Temperature Gradient. Both of these factor HEAVILY in the future of the Boreal and Permafrost zones.

CR056 - Unclothing the Emperor : Understanding “What’s Wrong” with our “Climate Paradigm” - Part 4. The PERMAFROST — is MELTING, “faster than expected”. (11/28/23)
Arctic Amplification turned out to be 4X overall planetary warming. By 2020 the High Arctic had warmed +4°C on average with parts of Siberia having warmed +7°C.
The jump in the GMST from +1.1°C in 2021 to +1.6°C in 2024 means that another +2°C of rapid warming has already started in the Arctic. This is a feedback that will only intensify going forward.
In 1998 when mainstream climate science set the lowball value for Arctic Amplification the first sentences in this paper (Latitudinal temperature gradients and climate change) were:
JOURNAL OF GEOPHYSICAL RESEARCH, VOL. 103, NO. D6, PAGES 5943–5971, MARCH 27, 1998 by David Rind NASA\GISS
“How variable is the latitudinal temperature gradient with climate change? This question is second in importance only to the question of overall climate sensitivity”
In 1998 they chose such a low value for amplification that their models didn't show much change in the LEtPTG. By 2016 the paleoclimate data came in and it indicates that the mainstream models are WRONG.
HEAT builds up at both poles RAPIDLY and the LEtPTG "flattens".
Not only does the Arctic warm up 4X faster than the rest of the planet, the paleoclimate data suggests that at +4°C of overall planetary warming, the High Arctic will warm up about +20°C.
ALL of the Boreal Forests are going to BURN away over the next 20-30 years and the permafrost is going to melt "faster than expected".
Thanks, Guy, but the planet's AC is the entire "hydrological cycle", so 1.2 trillion tons of melting global ice annually (3.3 billion tons daily), 321 million cubic miles of oceans, and the 10 trillion tons of water vapor in our atmosphere, all of which exhaust excess heat toward outer space. What you left out is the 144 BTUs absorbed by EVERY pound of melting ice (including permafrost), without which we become a hell on fire. We have overloaded our AC and hell is coming for those unfortunate enough to still be around at the end. Have a blessed day. Gregg
Well said! Yes, we have “overloaded our AC.” We have failed in every conceivable way (and some NOT conceivable). What to do? Live well, despite it all.
We live in a time where homo sapiens are more isolated, more divided, and especially more divorced from nature than ever before. It has been "who has the most" since we became sedentary: ownership, including other humans. Farming: desertification, genocide. Most never get beyond collective belief/psychosis to questioning. And those that question seldom get beyond the questioning. Be still. Be silent. Share. All of that ended when the Cognitive Revolution (ahh violence) became the 6th mass extinction PS: sorry my mental meanderings that have nothing specifically to do with climate change. I'm still most often in the questioning phase. Its lonely.
Who had raining in the Arctic in winter on their July bingo card?

Thank you for this excellent information, with a citation. Perhaps I will “flesh it out” in the future.
"To quote President Niinistö in Arkhangelsk: If we lose the Arctic, we lose the whole world."
I've cross posted Guy's latest work on my website with additional links embedded for additional reference.

President Niinistö knew what he was talking about.
Sorry for my redundancy, but thank you for your ongoing collegiality. I appreciate all you do in support of my work.

“Hell is coming … Have a blessed day.”

Thank you for your comment, Dr. Miklashek.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment, Grant. I agree, which is another lonely experience.
Thank you too. Time to break out the strong stuff.

Grant, there are many collapse aware community discussion groups that won't change outcomes but will affect how you experience outcomes.
I agree.
